Marisa Constantinides – TEFL Matters

Language Teaching, Teacher Education & New Technologies

I have never actually won an award (apart from one on best ELT Tips blog) but I am not really surprised with so many great bloggers out there with a lot more experience in writing great blog posts, with thousands of followers and huge readerships.

So, it always comes as a surprise to me when anyone nominates this blog for any award!

It makes me feel that my peers, my readers, have seen something in my writing, it’s feedback, and don’t we encourage positive feedback and praise to our learners?

So thank you to all those who have mentioned this blog in your nominations for various awards and more thanks to all those who took the time to cast their vote in favour of this blog!!!

So here they are – this blog’s CV, from most recent to oldest

 2012

Shortlisted in the 2012 ELTons awards in the category of Innovation for Teacher Resources for creating and maintaining #ELTchat, an online discussion on Twitter which draws ELT professionals from around the world. Along with my four fellow moderators – Shaun Wilden (UK) , Shelly Terrell (US), Barbara Hoskins Sakamoto (US-Japan) and Berni Wall (UK), we maintain a community of educators and share resources, links, blog posts for continuous professional development.

The competition is awesome!

But we will be there!

Lifetime Achievement Nomination in Edublog Awards 2011

Nominated for this award by Tamas Lorincz – some people teased me because of the innuendo of “lifetime achievement” – like, my professional life is over and time to get the gold watch and the handshake.

Happy to report I am still very active, my professional life is not over, and that someone else won it – whose professional life is not over either :-)

The Best Grammar Blog of 2011 for ELT Tips

Best Grammar Blog 2011 Nomination by Grammar.net for 2011

I didn’t get voted as best grammar blog, which does not surprise me at all! This blog is not a grammar blog by any stretch of anyone’s imagination.

Anyway, I think there is some mistake that I got this particular award because I wasn’t nominated in this category at all. But I am not giving it back :-)

Best New Blog Nomination for Edublog Awards 2009

I think this particular set of nominations of the first Edublog awards I was ever nominated in gave me the most pleasure – this blog had been around only for a couple of months and it was great to get some encouragement from some of the great bloggers who nominated this blog.
